For quite a while I had been wanting to indulge in afternoon tea, which seems to have become hugely popular over the last few years. Now if you're a Disney fan, which of course I am, your eyes will light up when you see this.
A few months back I visited the Sanderson Hotel in London for afternoon tea. The whole experience was (as you probably guessed) based around the Mad Hatter's Tea Party from Disney's Alice in Wonderland, and it was truly spectacular.
As myself and my friend are both vegetarian, we were pleasantly surprised that the menu options catered well to our dietary requirements, with a range of savoury wraps and scones, and delicious desserts. What amazed me was how the chefs had managed to create such a colourful and beautiful selection of food incorporating the Alice in Wonderland theme.
We were able to choose from a selection of fruity teas displayed in beautiful little bottles. I went for the strawberry flavour which was divine! The sugarcubes were held in a ballerina musical jewellery box and the teapots were decorated to resemble the queen of hearts.
Not only was the food delicious, but being seated in the terrace of the hotel really made me feel like I was miles away from the centre of London's hustle and bustle. It's been designed in such a way that you feel like you're in a whole other world, with trickling water sounds and greenery surrounding you. What I believe really enhanced the overall experience were the added touches, from the table arrangements and the bespoke crockery to the little "drink me" bottle tags.
