Using the right tools for your hair is just as important as using the right brushes to apply make up. For years I only owned a comb and a brush which you can definitely get by with, but you'll be limited with the kinds of hairstyles you can achieve.
Your hair is most susceptible to damage when it's wet, so it's extra important to handle it with care and the right tools. The Tangle Teezer is a fab little brush to get through all those knots, especially with wet hair. I believe this little gem works so well because it's bristles are very short and made from a soft and flexible kind of plastic. With it being so multifunctional, it's a great one to throw in your bag or even take travelling. You can pick it up at Boots for only £10.99.
Before my Tangle Teezer, I used to use this red comb which has no particular brand that I know of, but it's probably the only one I'd cry over if I lost or broke it because I've actually nicked it from my mum! It is such an old comb but brilliant for detangling wet hair! I've been looking for a replacement of the same quality and cannot find one ANYWHERE! I guess they just don't make 'em like they used to... *sigh*. I would recommend a wide toothed comb if you can't find one like this as they are great for combing through wet hair.
When my hair is dry, I usually use my large wooden paddle brush from Superdrug to brush my hair. It's so gentle and I love the feeling of the bristles running over my scalp... it's so soothing and as a plus point any sort of scalp massaging is great for promoting hair growth as it gets the blood circulating! Furthermore, this brush doesn't leave my hair static like many others have done in the past which is an added bonus.
For styling I use my round brush from The Big Brush Co. to blowdry my hair. This brush is fab because it conducts heat and therefore makes blowdrying hair a sleeker outcome with less effort. The bristles are also quite sparse, unlike the round brushed with wiry densely packed bristles which can be a lot more damaging to hair.
I use the wooden Head Jog 103 teasing brush to... you guessed it, tease my hair! The bristles are stiff but soft at the same time, almost slightly wiry which is what makes it work so well for teasing (backcombing) hair. Although, I personally don't backcomb often as it's really bad for your hair!
Last but not least, I have my lovely little Denman D19 Tall Comb which I mainly use to set the part in my hair, or when I'm creating hairstyles where I need to section off pieces of my hair. The point is precise and not too sharp, whilst the comb itself is the perfect size to create neat parts. I tend to use this to tease my hair at times too, but find it most effective used with hairspray when doing so.
For those of you who aren't into hoarding a load of brushes and combs, I'd suggest getting the Tangle Teezer as it can work in place of a wide toothed comb AND a paddle brush on both wet and dry hair.
But for those of you like me who need a comb for everything, I do hope you found this post helpful!
